Opening a Restaurant

In the future, the B.C.C. hopes to open a restaurant in the Zona Sul region of Rio de Janeiro.  Part of the recovery process for clients of the B.C.C. is learning a skill that may be used to gain legal employment.  Some clients that have completed the first phase of the B.C.C. program, will be given an opportunity to work in this restaurant.  There, they will learn how to maintain the kitchen/customer area, serve customers, prep and cook food, and learn the many nuances of how the restaurant industry operates.  Also, they will learn the importance of a diet that is properly balanced.  These clients will be placed in a shared living environment and receive a monthly salary.  After they have completed the six month program, the B.C.C. assists the clients to gain employment in local restaurants.

The B.C.C. has already interviewed a head chef for this restaurant.  She has over 30 years of experience working in food service industry.  She has agreed to oversee the creation of a menu, placing food orders and doing the cooking in the kitchen.  The menu will be a mix of the regional specialties of Bahia, Espirto Santo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro with emphasis on seafood and beef.  Estimated opening date November 2011.
Based upon the success of the flagship B.C.C. restaurant, others may be opened in Rio and then in other cities.
